Fail Forward: Turn Setbacks into Success!

Let’s talk about the F-word.

No, not that one!

FAILURE. The other dirty F-word. The one no one actually wants to talk about.

Everybody fails. It’s a fact of life. The mistake we make is viewing failure as something bad. So, how about I show you how to put a positive spin on it? 😜

Failure is not about what you lose. It’s about what you learn.

Failure isn’t the opposite of success. It’s part of learning to succeed. To possibly win, you have to put yourself in a position with the same chance of losing.

You have to be willing to take the risk.

Taking that risk is the hard part. Knowing you may not achieve what you set out to do, but doing it anyway is BRAVE.

Of course, losing is no fun. No one wants to fail. No one starts something new, intending to be a failure. That mindset, the idea that you will succeed, drives you forward.

The times when you don’t come out ahead - when you’re disappointed in yourself, remember how you got there. You believed in yourself. This journey was likely started when you missed the mark on another.

The beauty of failure is that it’s a reason to start again. It’s motivation to face your fear and forge ahead. You may not have a choice. It may be a matter of survival, pride, love, finances, or whatever it is that pushes you at that moment.

Think back to a time when you failed. An occasion when you wanted something so bad that you put your all into something or someone just to be let down. Did you stay stuck in that moment?

No, you didn’t. Hopefully, you took the lesson to use in the future and left the past behind. Maybe you carry it with you as a burden, but you continue with life because, well, here you are. (And let’s revisit this part another day).

Taking risks is important. It’s how you get to great places, achieve incredible things, and meet amazing people. Don’t sit around and wait for life to happen because you’re afraid to fail. Put yourself out there. Take a chance. Go for what you really want.
