Embrace What Is: The Power of Acceptance

⭐️Find peace and strength by letting go of what you can't control

How do you feel when you think back on an event that impacted your life in an unexpected or unforeseeable way? What emotion do you associate with it? Where does that train of thought lead you to?

What is considered a traumatic experience differs for everyone. Everything is relative, and what we consider trauma and how we experience it is dependent on many variables.

What happens after that trauma is also a personal experience, but one important step we all must take is 𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐄𝐏𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄.

Accepting your post-trauma life can be very difficult. It took me a long time to understand that accepting my disability and the new version of myself didn’t mean I was giving up. It only meant I had to change my mindset and the direction I was going.

It’s important to let yourself experience and feel emotions. You must acknowledge that you cannot change what happened, change the past, or force things to happen the way you want or once expected.

There comes a point when you have to be honest with yourself. This is your life now, and the only way to truly 𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐄 and 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 yourself is to accept that.

Without acceptance, you're left in a cycle of wondering “why,” “how,” and “what could I have done differently?” The thing is, none of that matters. You can’t change or fix that - and you may never have the answer. You’re also causing more suffering and pain, allowing yourself to remain in that space.

Only after you accept your circumstances can you truly move forward. Then, you can start rebuilding your life and decide what changes to make. You can change direction if necessary and begin following your new path, taking into consideration your new abilities and limitations.

⭐️Most importantly, remember that Acceptance isn’t about giving up hope. It’s about understanding where you are right now and how to start over.
